“I’ve been thinking a lot about Wuhan. Although I was born in the US, my family is from Wuhan, and I’ve spent a few summers there when I was young.
“I have a lot of fond memories of from those times - cruising down the Yangtze River at night while a choreographed lightshow plays on Wuhan’s skyline, fishing with my uncles and cousins in one of the many ponds and lakes that dot Wuhan’s countryside, and eating delicious food that we only ever ate when we were in Wuhan.
“It’s been strange to hear Wuhan go from being virtually unknown to being mentioned all the time and only in connection to the pandemic. I hope that one day people will remember Wuhan for more than this virus.
“During this time, I’ve been reaching out to people I haven’t spoken to in a long time including my cousins in Wuhan. Hearing from them has helped me feel reconnected in this time of physical distancing, and I’m grateful to know that I’m not going through this alone.”
