#HowIRise

"For joy & lightness when friz is not happening, I’ve taken to spikeball, slacklining, and pickleball as well as biking to beaches, bakeries, and BLM protests. I had the chance to spend a couple of weeks in Maine enjoying the great outdoors with Rising teammates. Oh and lots of petting dogs and exploring new bodies of water in the Northeast (>20!).

"This has also been a time of learning & unlearning and civic engagement. I’m thinking critically about how I wield my time, power, and $, getting involved with equity/policing issues in Somerville, and volunteering with political campaigns.

"Internally, I’m working on building accountability systems, understanding the weaknesses in my knowledge & perspective, and working on adjusting my language (e.g. unhoused vs homeless, criminal legal system vs criminal justice etc.) I’ve also been using this time to deepen connections with teammates, friends, and family in ways I don’t normally get to during a busy season."
