Standing at 5’9.5”, Powers is dominant in the air on both sides of the disc, with a big backhand and the ability to create team energy in any situation. One of three Rising team captains, KPow has both played for and coached Bowdoin College Chaos Theory, and has represented Frolic at the club level. Originally from Lexington, Mass, Kate is also a psychiatric technician.
“I am RISING by addressing my own mental health, the mental health of the people I love, and the impact of this pandemic on community mental health. I am making my own mental health a priority by using telehealth technology to continue seeing my therapist and, I must say, it’s not as bad as I thought! If you’re one of the many struggling with your mental health in this unprecedented time, perhaps consider giving it a shot!
A few other mental health-related priorities of mine have been regular check-ins with my loved ones, restarting my work with a non-profit that supports surviviors of sexual violence, and creating opportunities for fun and connection within communities I love (particularly, Portland Rising). Also, one of my favorite quarantine coping mechanisms has been doodling mandalas!
