NUTC Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Eli for winning a scholarship to attend the National Ultimate Training Camp this summer!
The scholarship is co-sponsored by Portland Rising, Maine Ultimate, and NUTC.

What is NUTC?
NUTC, the National Ultimate Training Camp, offers the most complete ultimate education for youth players, as well as expands its training to coaches of every level.

NUTC’s motto is “Learn from the Best” and we believe that sums up well why they are the premier ultimate camp in the world:

  • The staff is comprised of top-level elite players who know how to teach. All of our lessons have been vetted by Camp Director Tiina Booth and the experienced Assistant Directors. They look for clear, focused brief presentations that include active campers as much as possible. Who wants to sit around to be talked at? It’s ultimate camp; let’s play!

  • Tiina has years of experience as a teacher, coach and camp director. Every parent should be confident about sending their child to NUTC. There’s an athletic trainer on staff 24/7. Activities are always being evaluated with your child’s health in mind.

  • They simply have the MOST FUN! From the camper/counselor game to Trade Night to the Talent Show, the staff has learned how to relax with the campers at night after working them hard all day. Kids will leave camp pleasantly exhausted, happy and ready to take their lessons from NUTC and share them with their teammates at home.

Read below to learn more about why Eli, from Falmouth, Maine, is excited about attending NUTC!

“At NUTC, my goals are to work on my defensive skills and get better at reading the frisbee and jumping to get there before other people. Having the opportunity to work with coaches and guard players who have a lot of experience will help me improve my defensive positioning and at reading and jumping for discs.”

“In Falmouth, the town that I play for, we are having a hard time getting girls to come out and play for us. With these new skills I would be able to volunteer at ultimate clinics to help encourage more girls to come out and play. In middle school I didn’t have a female player or coach to look up to and I would be able to be a person for some of the girls to look up to. Getting more girls to join in lower grades will mean more girls excited about playing when they come to high school.”

Congratulations, Eli! We can’t wait to hear all about your experience!
